JUDAEA. Caesaraea Maritima. Titus, as Caesar, 69-79. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 14.84 g, 12 h), RY 3 (of Vespasian) = 70/1. Α[ΥΤΟΚP ΤΙΤΟΣ ΚΑΙ]Σ ΟΥΕΣΠ Laureate head of Titus to right. Rev. Struck slightly off center on the obverse, and light deposits, otherwise, very fine.

This portrait of the victorious conqueror of Jerusalem, Titus, was minted in the months immediately following the fall of the Jewish capital on 8 September 70 CE. As RPC suggests, the most likely mint is Caesaraea Maritima, the capital of the province, which served as the regional military headquarters during the Roman campaigns against the Jewish insurgents.
